The company was established in 1993 by father and son, Fred and Ian Hughes.

"The main purpose built funeral facilities are situated next to our family home on the edge of the village of Gladestry, in the beautiful Radnorshire countryside. Although most families prefer to use our Chapel of Rest here, for the convenience of Kington residents we also maintain a funeral home in Bridge Street. These premises also house our coffin showroom.

In the event of a bereavement we are here to help you each step of the way, from your first telephone call to us, right through the funeral arrangements, to installing a headstone if required or even arranging a Memorial service at a later date.

Our aim has always been to conduct each funeral as if it were for a member of our own family. We treat every bereaved family with compassion and understanding and every deceased person with dignity and respect. We retain a female operative to prepare and dress the ladies in our care.

Whilst always maintaining our traditional standards and values, we also keep up to date with the changing expectations of our clients through our association with The Purple Funeral Company. In response to the demand for the more eco- sensitive alternatives we have established our own 'green' burial ground, 'Offa's Orchard', adjacent to our funeral home at Gladestry."
