OFFA'S ORCHARD
Green Burial Ground
Grid Ref: SO235551
Eco-Sensitive burials in the glorious countryside of the old
Welsh county of Radnorshire
The burial ground occupies a unique position on the sunny, south facing slopes of the westernmost tip of Hergest Ridge. It is bounded by the 1200 year old earthworks of Offa's Dyke, whilst the Gladestry Brook meanders its way throught the valley below.
Our aim is to create an orchard of rare and endangered species of native fruit trees and to encourage and protect the already prolific and diverse flora and fauna of the area.
In the private ownership of the Hughes family, it is ideally situated adjacent to the funeral home at Gladestry, thereby offering the convenience of all the necessary facilities in one location.
The ground is not consecrated, making it suitable for followers of any religion or none. Individual plots may be blessed by a minister of your own faith if you wish.
To maintain the integrity of our eco-credentials the only funeral directors permitted to use this burial ground are A. W. Hughes & Son and The Purple Funeral Company.
We are members of the Association of Natural Burial Grounds - ANBG
