The Purple Funeral Company
Proprietor:  Miss Carol Aston

Specialists in 'alternative' funerals, 'green' funerals.
Eco- friendly and hand painted coffins.

Funerary Artist Carol Aston established the Purple Funeral Company in the year 2000.  Her aim was to break down the enduring taboos surrounding death, and to help to make funerals more meaningful.

Three times nominated for The Turner Prize for Art with her unique hand painted coffins, rather than pursue a purely artistic path, Carol decided to channel some of her creativity into arranging funerals that would be more individual and appropriate. Examples of her painted coffins may often be seen on display at exhibitions and in galleries throughout Europe, including two on permanent display in the Russian Museum of Death, Novosibirsk, Siberia.

Whilst specialising in eco-friendly funerals, on behalf of her clients Carol also sources and researches products, services and ideas from around the globe.  If you are looking for white doves to release at the graveside, a Scottish Piper, New Orleans Jazz Band, motorcycle sidecar hearse, Victorian horse drawn hearse, or even a company that creates a diamond from cremated remains, she can assist with these and many other ways to make a funeral truly special and to create a lasting memory of a loved one

Working in conjunction with A. W. Hughes & Son she is able to offer her clients the full facilities of the of the more traditional funeral company, plus rights of burial at their family owned 'green' burial ground 'Offa's Orchard'.
